The Gordon & June Ito Foundation is proud to support Hawaii’s next generation of healthcare professionals. Every year, we offer scholarships for undergraduate nursing students and graduate social work students attending an accredited university or college in Hawaii.
The Foundation provides financial assistance at a time when students need it most. Nursing students receive scholarships in their critical senior year as they complete their degree. Students pursuing a master’s degree in social work can also receive generous financial assistance.
The Ito Healthcare Group is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Hawaii’s people, from medically fragile children to frail elders. By offering scholarships as well as opportunities to work with one of the facilities under the Ito Healthcare Group, the Gordon & June Ito Foundation hopes to uphold a high standard of care in the community to benefit all of Hawaii’s people, now and into the future.
The Gordon & June Ito Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 2008 exclusively for educational purposes. Each year, the Foundation awards a $10,000 scholarship to a deserving student majoring in nursing for his or her senior year. The Foundation also awards a scholarship of $2,500 each to two students pursuing a master’s degree in social work. These scholarships provide tuition assistance at an accredited public university or college in Hawaii.
Gordon Ito, head of the locally and privately owned Ito Healthcare Group, started the Foundation to ensure promising students could receive advanced education to help them pursue their dream of helping others. Mr. Ito has witnessed the impact of nursing shortages on patient care, and has seen the value of social workers in providing comfort and direction to families in crises. Investing in the education of healthcare professionals ensures Hawaii’s patients receive quality care and compassion.
